Farewell to our friends at Too Peas – it’s the end of an era, or pea’ra, for all their avid listeners and community.
We all know how parenting a child with a disability can be lonely and isolating, but over the past five years there’s been a constant, chatty companion many of us have turned to as a source of comfort, entertainment and camaraderie.
“Too Peas in a Podcast” has been so much more than just a show for many of us disability parents; Mandy & Kate’s empathy, insightful discussions, humour and honesty created a safe space where our joys, struggles, and triumphs were mirrored back to us, acknowledged and celebrated.
So, we’re really sad to hear that in May, the podcast will be closing its virtual doors.
Along with so many of you we have loved the podcast’s ability to tackle complex topics that could only come from being there in the trenches with us. From navigating the NDIS, to dealing with sleepless nights and medical moments, and advocating for inclusive education, “Too Peas” delved into the intricacies of disability parenting with a dose of ‘been there, done that’ understanding and, almost as importantly, allowed as to have a giggle at the often absurd moments we face. Each episode felt a bit like a hug, reminding us that we were not alone in our experiences.
Over the years, the guests featured on the show brought us a wealth of knowledge and perspectives; including our own Emma whose episode you can revisit here: https://toopeasinapodcast.com.au/emma-talks-about-source-kids-source-mama/.
Their stories really resonated and let us know that there is help and information out there – giving us much needed confidence to advocate for our kids and kick butt where needed!
So, here’s to “Too Peas’ Mandy and Kate, for being a beacon of light in this beautiful, challenging journey we’re all on – we wish you all the best in your next ventures and will be eagerly listening and watching to see what happens next.
